Copenhagen City Hall

Copenhagen City Hall is a beautiful old building in the city center.

It is one of the tallest buildings in the city. You can climb the tower by climbing 300 steps. The facade of the City Hall is decorated with a gilded sculpture of the founder of Copenhagen, Bishop Absalon. The interior of the building is beautiful, and various exhibitions are often held.

When you go inside, to the right of the entrance you can see a special room in which the famous astronomical clock by Jens Olsen is located. The clock consists of 15,448 parts and shows the time with an error of less than half a second, which “runs up” over 300 years.

The clock not only shows the exact time, date, day of the week, month and year, but also the time of sunrise and sunset, the length of days and nights, Central European time in hours, minutes and seconds, the phases of the moon and the church calendar. In addition, the clock shows a diagram of the movement of the planets around the Sun and a map of the starry sky over Denmark. And all this is in a glass case, that is, the entire complex mechanism is visible, you can study it and try to understand how it works.

A wedding in the Town Hall of Copenhagen takes place very quickly, the ceremony itself takes about 7 minutes, and the submission of documents can be done 2 hours before the ceremony and it takes about 10 minutes.

The whole process is very organized. Everything is prepared in advance and you just have to enjoy the process.

A wedding in the Copenhagen City Hall is very popular for a number of reasons:

  1. This is a very beautiful place for your wedding ceremony, where you get that very medieval atmosphere and a wonderful place for a photo shoot.
  2. This is the very center of Copenhagen – there is nothing more central! This means that all your guests can easily get to the place of your wedding and you will not have to spend extra money on a transfer for guests.
  3. This is a tourist center – there are a lot of tourists there and during the season, when you leave the City Hall, you will be met by a crowd clapping and congratulating you, which gives the event special emotions and delight. At these moments, it seems that everyone in the square came just for you!
  4. If you ordered a photo shoot, then you do not need to waste the time paid for the photographer on the trip and you fully use his time for photography.
  5. Very often, the couple and guests prefer to settle in this location, regardless of the place of the ceremony, and due to the fact that almost all the sights of Copenhagen are within walking distance from this place. And if you need to get somewhere, you will be pleasantly surprised by public transport.

Given the popularity of this place of ceremony, take into account that you need to book the wedding date in advance, otherwise the date you are interested in may not be available. We recommend booking no later than half a year in advance. But if you want to get the wedding date closer, you can pay an additional 500 euros for express review of your documents and in this case you can get the wedding date in a month.
