What is needed to have a wedding in Tbilisi?

A wedding in Georgia should be booked no later than 2 months before the desired date. And if we are talking about an off-site ceremony or one of the popular places, then sometimes it is worth booking a year in advance. In addition to submitting documents to the municipality and receiving approval of the documents, you also need to have time to certify all your necessary documents and have them notarized, which also takes time. Certification of documents and their translation are paid separately depending on your package of documents and the time before the wedding date. Until you have submitted the marriage certificate, and therefore have not declared its conclusion, you are not considered married. Failure to present the marriage certificate within a certain period (depending on the country) is a violation of the law.

Valid passports
Certificate of marital status, i.e. whether he/she is single, divorced or widowed, issued by an official authority of his/her country.
- The above certificate is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
- It is also necessary to legalize the certificate of marital status. The best form of legalization is an apostille stamp if their country has signed the “Hague Convention Abolishing Requirements for the Legalization of Foreign Public Documents of October 5, 1961.” Otherwise, he/she will need to contact the official authority of his/her country for the necessary legalization.
