💍 Documents Required for an Official Wedding in Cyprus

Getting married in Cyprus means sun, sea, and an internationally recognized marriage certificate
But behind every beautiful ceremony lies a complex and meticulous paperwork process 📑

📘 Required Documents

📄 Document	📝 Description and Requirements
🌍 Valid Passports	Both passports must be valid on the date of travel and registration.
🍼 Birth Certificate	A notarized copy translated into English or Greek and legalized with an apostille.
💞 Certificate of No Impediment / Marital Status	Confirms that the applicant is single, divorced, or widowed. For Israeli citizens – Tamzit Rishum (תמצית רישום).
⏳ Validity	This certificate is valid for 3 months from the date of issue. After that, a new one is required.
🖋️ Translation and Legalization	Original and translation must be submitted together. Translation must be notarized and include an apostille.
🕊️ Legalization Format	Ideally an apostille (Hague Convention of 1961). If your country is not a member, consular legalization is required.
💔 Divorce Decree (if applicable)	Original final divorce document stating the decree is absolute and not subject to appeal, signed, sealed, and legalized with an apostille and an official translation.
🕯️ Death Certificate of Spouse (if applicable)	For widowed applicants: original document legalized with apostille and translated into English or Greek.
📦 Submission	Originals and certified translations must be submitted together as one complete set to the municipality.
