Zbiroh

One of the oldest castles in the Czech Republic is Zbiroh Castle, located near the town of Rokycany.

Zbiroh is known as the “castle of three kings”, namely: Charles IV and Sigismund of Luxembourg and Rudolf II of Habsburg.

The castle is also often given the epithet “the most”: its fortress walls are built on the steepest cliff, its well is the deepest in Europe.

An aura of mystery has hovered over this castle for centuries, since only a select few could enter the imperial residence.

According to one legend, the castle saves and protects its inhabitants from the evil eye. It is not without reason that the Masonic lodge once chose this castle to hold its rituals.

There is a legend that explains the name of the castle founded on this site:

» … Once upon a time, Zbyněk Zajíc from Valdek, a famous Czech family at the time, went hunting in the dense forests near the royal castle of Křivoklát. The hunt dragged on and took the hunters very far from residential areas. It got dark, and they had no choice but to spend the night right in a clearing in the dense forest. When the hunters woke up, they were bewildered to find many discarded deer antlers around them. Surprised and delighted, Zbyněk and his comrades collected these antlers, and in the clearing, located on a high hill, they later ordered the construction of a castle, which they named «Zbiroh» (translated as “collect antlers”).»

The picturesque forests surrounding the castle, the beauty of the castle park and the dignified architectural ensemble of Zbiroh Castle create excellent conditions for your wedding to become an unforgettable event for all its participants.
