What is needed to have a wedding in Prague?
Prague offers a wide variety of wedding venues. If you like a romantic ceremony in the Middle Ages, you should consider several options for locations in Prague. If you decide to limit yourself to an economical option, opt for a ceremony within the walls of one of the local Town Halls, especially since they are usually located in interesting old buildings. And if you want to feel like a participant in ancient events, to experience the romanticism of the Middle Ages, arrange your wedding in one of the castles.
A wedding in Prague should be booked no later than 2 months before the desired date. And if we are talking about a wedding in a castle or one of the popular places, then sometimes it is worth booking a year in advance. In addition to submitting documents to the municipality itself, which we do for you, and obtaining approval of the documents, you also need to have time to certify all your necessary documents and notarize them, which also takes time. Certification of documents and their translation are paid separately depending on your package of documents and deadlines before the wedding date. We also have an Express document preparation service in an extremely short time for an additional fee. When the documents are ready, we will send them to the Czech Republic for presentation at the municipality by our agent. Without the original documents, the wedding will not take place.
To obtain a marriage license in the Czech Republic, you will also have to visit the municipality and police in person a few days before the date of the ceremony.
During your visit to the municipality and the police in the Czech Republic, you will be accompanied by our agent, who will monitor and manage the process, and in case of questions or unforeseen situations, will resolve them.
The sooner you book your wedding with us, the more likely you are to receive exactly the conditions and services that suit you best. For example, the date that suits you or the photographer you like best. We have a large selection of contractors to suit different tastes and budgets.
It is possible to book a wedding with our agency online. In this case, you do not need to physically come to the meeting; it will take place via one of the means of communication of your choice. Original documents and a signed agreement can be sent by mail.
A wedding ceremony in Prague lasts about 20 minutes. The official part of the ceremony is not subject to change. In addition to the master of ceremonies, there will also be a court interpreter, who, according to Czech law, must translate the ceremony for you in the language of your place of birth or citizenship. You will need to say yes when asked if you agree to get married. If you want to add something on your own (vows, breaking a glass, sand ceremony, etc.), you can do this after the official part.
Obtaining a marriage certificate, including its apostille and translation, lasts for 3 months.
If you ordered a photo and/or video session, the material will be received within 3 to 5 months from the date of shooting.
After receiving the marriage certificate, to register the marriage in your country, you must submit it to the appropriate authorities established by your country or to the embassy of your country if you are not located in its territory.
Until you have submitted a marriage certificate, which means you have not declared its conclusion, you are not considered married. Failure to present a marriage certificate within a certain period (depending on the country) is a violation of the law.
