Will our Cyprus marriage be recognised at home?

Your marriage is legally registered in Cyprus. Recognition and any paperwork required in your home country depend on that country’s rules. An apostille or other legalisation may be needed; we will help you understand what to check before you travel.

Can international couples legally marry in Cyprus?

Yes. Cyprus welcomes international couples for civil weddings. We arrange weddings for couples from the US, Canada, Israel, the UK, Europe and beyond.

Can we legally marry at Aphrodite’s Rock?

Yes. A municipal registrar comes to the venue to conduct your legal civil marriage ceremony.

Can we have a wedding just for two?

Absolutely. Many couples choose an intimate wedding without guests. If you need witnesses, we provide them for the civil ceremony at no extra charge.

Can we invite guests to the civil ceremony?

Of course. Invite family and friends, and arrange a live stream for loved ones who cannot be there in person.

How many guests can the venue accommodate?

Tell us your expected guest numbers so we can confirm the venue’s capacity and seating arrangements.

What documents do we need for a civil wedding in Cyprus?

The exact list depends on your citizenship and marital status. You will usually need:

• Passports
• Birth certificates
• Proof of marital status
• Divorce documents, if previously married

We check your documents free of charge before preparation begins and let you know if anything else is needed.

How far ahead should we book our wedding?

Get in touch as soon as you have a date in mind. Popular venues, especially hotels, book well ahead of the season. Planning early gives you more choice of dates, settings and wedding professionals. Contact us to check availability and secure your preferred date.

When should we start preparing our documents?

Book your wedding date early, particularly in peak season, to have the best choice of venue and ceremony time. Start preparing documents around three months before the wedding. Some documents, including proof of marital status, have a limited validity period, so obtaining them too early can mean having to order them again. If you need replacement documents or papers from another country, we will help you plan extra time.

How much time should we allow in Cyprus?

Allow for your in-person document appointment the day before the wedding and the ceremony itself. For ceremonies after 2 pm, receiving your certificate takes up to three working days. We will plan your travel dates and document collection with you in advance.

Should we arrive in Cyprus before the wedding day?

Yes. You submit your documents the day before the wedding. We will agree your arrival and appointment times in advance.

When are outdoor ceremonies available?

From April to October. Available dates and times are confirmed when you book.

Can we choose our ceremony time?

Outdoor ceremonies usually take place from 2 pm onwards. We will agree a time from the available options when you book.

When do we submit our documents?

You submit your documents the day before the wedding, accompanied by your coordinator. Return transport from the hotel to the municipality is included.

When will we receive our marriage certificate?

For ceremonies after 2 pm, receiving your marriage certificate takes up to three working days.

What is an apostille, and do we need one?

An apostille authenticates a public document for use abroad. Whether you need an apostille or another form of legalisation depends on the country and authority receiving your certificate. We will discuss the requirements for your situation in advance.

What language is the civil ceremony conducted in?

The civil ceremony is usually conducted in English. Interpreting into other languages is not included.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?

Outdoor ceremonies run from April to October. We monitor the forecast beforehand. If rain makes an outdoor civil ceremony impossible, the legal ceremony will move to the town hall.

What does Art Wedding’s support include?

We support you throughout: preparing the paperwork, booking your date and venue, meeting you in Cyprus, accompanying you to submit your documents and on the wedding day, and helping you receive your marriage certificate.

Can we add other wedding services?

Yes. We can arrange photography and video, ceremony styling, a bouquet and buttonhole, bridal hair and makeup, music, a wedding dinner, transfers, car hire, live streaming and more.

Can you arrange a wedding dinner after the ceremony?

Yes. We can arrange anything from a romantic dinner for two to a wedding reception or evening celebration with your guests.

Can you help us choose a hotel in Cyprus?

Yes. We work directly with a range of hotels and can help you choose accommodation to suit your preferences, budget and wedding venue.

Can we pay in instalments?

Yes. Payment can be spread over agreed stages. Many couples book six to twelve months ahead to secure their preferred venue and ceremony time and spread the cost. Your wedding package must be paid in full before the ceremony date.

Can I change my surname after the wedding?

A surname change is a separate step after your marriage and follows the rules of your country of citizenship.

Do we need to register the marriage when we get home?

You may need to notify the relevant authorities or update your civil-status records after the wedding. Requirements, including any apostille or translation, depend on your home country and the authority receiving the certificate.
